Counsellor / Psychotherapist, Counselling Supervisor
I am a fully qualified mature counsellor and also hold a Diploma in Counselling Supervision, I have been a member of the British Association for Counselling and Therapy since 1996 and an Accredited member since 2009, abiding by their code of ethics and professional guidance.
Qualifications
I worked in the charitable sector as a counsellor and counselling supervisor from 1997 until 2014. I have been in private practice since 2004 and I have experience with clients between the ages of 11 to 84. I have worked with individual clients and also with parents and adolescents together. I have worked in schools and also with social care. Along with other issues I offer counselling in the following areas:
I work from my home and my office is wheelchair accessible.
During the initial consultation I explore the issues that the client wants to look at and the way in which they prefer to work, what they hope to achieve in counselling and their ideal outcome. My training is person centred, cognitive and psychodynamic.
LOOKING AT THE PAST TO UNDERSTAND THE PRESENT
My training is integrated into my work to achieve the best outcome for the client in the shortest possible time.
FEES
I charge £50.00 for 60 minutes. I offer a reduction for young people under the age of 18 and adults over 65.
FEES FOR SUPERVISION
I charge £50.00 for 60 minutes for supervision. I offer a reduction for counsellors in training or supervisees with a very small private practice.
A large proportion of my practice is supervising qualified counsellors and counsellors in training. My aim in Supervision is to work collaboratively with the counsellor or trainee, encouraging the growth and exploration of the supervisee’s own style, in a relaxed and non-authoritarian atmosphere. I aim to be as accessible as possible and to offer supervisees the benefit of my own experiences as a counsellor, for the supervisee to work with if they wish as appropriate to their own clients. I aim to work with an understanding and consideration of the supervisees own clinical orientation.
I seek to help the supervisee to maintain ethical behaviour and boundaries within the BACP guidelines and explore ethical dilemmas as they arise. I have worked in schools and with Social Care as well as with children leaving care, and in collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. I work with counsellors in private practice as well as those working within organisations and in GP practices. I also supervise those working as supervisors.
I am happy to have a conversation about your prospective counselling or supervision whenever I am available. Please leave a message if I am unavailable as I may be with a client. Please be aware that messages left on the land line are not confidential.
